Hi folks,

After having looked a bit closer at DocuVieware and having briefly explained what a HTML5 Viewer is, today we are going to show you some of the goodies our universal HTML5 Viewer and document management solution provides.

DocuVieware’s user interface is fully customizable: one can make it look like according to own dreams or, quite the opposite, according to customer’s requirements.
And the reason we started with user interface is that, among the customizable interface elements, DocuVieware also provides snap-ins.
Basically, a DocuVieware snap-in is a user interface element which contains a series of functional options, all of them belonging to a same general function.
For example, if DocuVieware would have been capable to also wash user’s laundry, this would have been reflected in the user interface by a dedicated snap-in, expandable via a button named say, “Wash Laundry“.
When clicked, the button would expand the snap-in showing the user a panel with all offered options for this functionality, like wash white or colored laundry, cotton or wool, select water temperature, centrifuge speed and so on.
Each of these options can be individually set to get displayed or hidden in DocuVieware SDK, just like the snap-in itself.

Well folks, currently DocuVieware does not provide laundry-washing functionality (or maybe it does but the function is still undocumented, I have to ask our CEO about this) but it does provide 4 snap-ins for the time being: Thumbnails, PDF bookmarks tree, Search and Annotations.

The thumbnail snap-in allows viewing all pages of multipage documents (like TXT or PDF or TIFF) as thumbnails, of course.
The thumbs panel can be resized at will, to match the viewing experience that an user considers to be optimal.

But here is the thing: thumbnails can be individually selected by holding the CTRL key pressed and clicking on the desired thumbnail (ie, page).
This way, the user can make a specific selection of pages to be printed. Or to be saved in a single, new file. Or to get processed (like applying deskew or punch hole removal or other image cleanup filters available in DocuVieware) in just one shot.

You can check out our Gallery Live Demo and play with our sample collection of various files, in various formats (like TXT, SVG, JBIG2, PDF, TIFF and so on) single- or multipage.
Or you can load your own files, either from your computer or from the URL address of the file.
The thumbnail snap-in is expanded by default but you can also try other snap-ins too, don’t be shy: the snap-in buttons are located on the petroleum-coloured vertical bar at the left side of the main viewer.

And since we’ve mentioned multipage files, you might be interested in testing the PDF with 1310 pages you’ll find there, just to see the skills DocuVieware has in handling load-display of such big multipage documents (hope you got a fair internet connection).
But here is another thing: that PDF file is bookmark-structured.
So click on the Bookmarks snap-in button on the vertical toolbar described above to get the snap-in displayed and see the entire bookmark tree for a most convenient document navigation.
This doesn’t mean you don’t have other navigation options at hand.
On the contrary, you can navigate using any possible means: continous page view mode, jump to page number or click on page thumbnail.

Or, even better, you can simply search for the terms of your interest so you can go directly there.
To do that, you just have to click the Search snap-in button.
Did we just say “you can simply search for the terms of your interest”?
Sorry, that was a mistake, the proper sentence is: you can professionally search for the terms of your interest.
Meaning you can search whole word or not, case sensitive or not, in only the current page or in the entire document and the search results will be presented to you with the context they occur in, so you can determine at a glance whether a certain result is relevant for you or not.
That’s right, not just simple found-word highlightings for you to jump to again and again (and again), clicking “Next” until the finger hurts, praying for the next one to be the right one.

OK.
So once you’ve reached and studied a document or an image or a RAW camera photo or a medical DICOM image or a TXT plain text file (don’t worry, I’ll stop here, I have no intention to enumerate nearly 100 file formats), you might want to add annotations for later reviews.
You know the drill by now: click the Annotations snap-in button and start annotating with no mercy.
Add stamps, sticky notes, arrow, lines (connected or not), rectangles, circles, ellipses, polygones, draw free-hand, highlight text, type your own text, you name it, DocuVieware has it.
You can even use a ruler for measuring in pixels, inches, milimeters or centimeters.
And needless to say, each and every annotation tool has properties for you to edit and set at free will.

Well folks, we’re now about to finish this article so just to make sure you got everything right: these are just a few goodies DocuVieware SDK has to offer at this moment.
We cannot detail them all but you can check the list of features on DocuVieware website then test any of them via the live demos or download it for a 30 days free evaluation. (Note: DocuVieware SDK development licenses are bundled with GdPicture.NET Ultimate Edition SDK licenses so its binaries are included in the GdPicture.NET SDK binaries).
Just keep in mind we’re only at version 1.0.4. in less than a month since first public release.
A lot more is yet to come.
In fact, you will always be able to preview what features to expect in the upcoming version.
In the version history webpage on DocuVieware website, you will find at any time the listing of upcoming features with links to try them live via BETA-demos.

Until next time, all the best, folks!
Bye!
