The Project.
GdPicture MICR SDK Preview is a free tool for anyone needing to extract the characters within the MICR font lines from scanned Bank checks or other MICR-secured documents.
MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition and is a standard encoding technology in Banking industry used mainly for checks.
MICR technology encodes key information concerning the document on which it is printed and comprises two major font standards and special set of characters: CMC-7 and E-13B.
GdPicture MICR engine is specialized in their detection and recognition.
A specialized plugin for GdPicture.NET SDK allowing developers to programmatically use all features of our MICR engine will be available this year.

The Story.
GdPicture MICR SDK engine is what happens when creative minds meet inefficient solutions : they figure out a new solution to solve the problem.
Lots of our GdPicture.NET SDK customers use OCR to extract text from various corporate documents among which Bank checks are quite frequent.
But Bank checks include identification code lines made using special ink (magnetic) and fonts (CMC-7 and E-13B fonts) which, to say the least, are tough to get recognized by usual OCR engines.
Hence the need to improve MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) font detection and character extraction for these special fonts standards.
The intense development and research work we’ve done resulted in a highly-accurate new solution specialized in MICR as a complementary tool for document OCR.
